How The Self-Care Circle was created

There have been times in my life where people have inquired as to how I get so many things done.  The conversations always seemed a bit odd to me because didn’t think I really had that much going on. As more variables have been added to my life over time, the more it became apparent that I was able to balance them because of the self-care practices that are woven into my daily life.  When the quarantine pandemic began in early 2020, my family and I were out for a walk after dinner trying to relax.  Our stress level was off the charts.  My husband was not used to working from home without traveling, my kids knew things were different, and I was attempting to support them all in a time of need (doing distance learning for a preschooler while working from home and teaching yoga).  I asked my husband what he thought he could do in the present situation to take care of himself and he stared back at me with a blank face.  He literally had no idea.  It was a realization that seemed to leave us both dumbfounded.

I learned a long time ago that no one individual can be everything to everyone.  We can only be there for others if our cup is full, put on our oxygen masks first, or whatever other analogy you can think of that applies.

When I think about what self-care means to me, there are so many things that come to mind. It is doing as much as I can each day to take care of me- planning and preparing, staying active, meditating, spending time with my family, reading, having dessert.  When I am taken care of, I can be more present, be more supportive and simply just enjoy more of the little things.

I invite you to join a community that will support you as you take care of yourself first. A place where you can meet yourself exactly where you are at any given moment in time to get exactly what you need – The Self-Care Circle.
